Strange Days Brewing Co Desolation
What the brewers say
“German-style black lager.”
What our panel thought
“Chocolate notes with a kind of distractingly effervescent bite in the nose. Aromatically, it has a lot of lift; moderate roasted character with esters that push through. Chocolate and coffee with noted roast harshness and hints of smoke. Light to medium body with higher carbonation. Leaves a bit of a chalky mouthfeel. Spicy-grassy hop character balances well on the clean finish. Pleasant, but a bit rough on the edges.”
What our editors thought
“Woody, light roast nose. Round and soft malt in the sip, a bit too friendly.”
