Green Cheek Beer Swim Test

What the brewers say

"Milky yellowy/white in color, with flavorful hoppy layers of pineapple, lychee, and nectarine."

What our panel thought

"Ripe orange, lemon, grapefruit, and intense dankness melding with alcohol for a complex aroma with spicy, pepper-like kick. Chewy sweetness tempers the bitterness, drying out enough to avoid cloying."

What our editors thought

"Sweaty citrus and tropical funk—unresolved tension between glorious and weird. In the sip, tropical sweetness morphs into dry-pineapple bitterness with David Blaine–like precision. Finishes dry, its sweetness ghostly. Drinkable and satisfying. A masterwork of balance."

Green Cheek Beer The Other Brian

Moderate tropical aroma: peach, mango, orange blossom, subtle pine and earth. Inviting. Flavor starts dank, piney, evolving into nectar-like stone fruit. Low sweetness balanced by smooth, gentle, lingering bitterness.

Green Cheek Beer Company Swim Test

“Dank herbal tea aroma with sweet orange, cardamom, mango, papaya. Flavor profile is a three-way battle among spicy alcohol, a syrupy malt sweetness, and a green, tropical, white-grape hoppiness. Substantial hop bitterness helps pull it all together.”

Green Cheek Beer Company It Just Works

“Very clean and well-made, with restrained but effective ingredient choices. Pours a clear, almost brilliant yellowish deep straw—very attractive. While not over the top in terms of hop aroma and flavor, it does have a solid bittering punch with a long, dry finish and hoppy aftertaste. Medium grassy grapefruit and slight piney, both in aroma and flavor, with no conflicting malt character—the hops are the star without being in your face. Hop flavor is slightly restrained, creating such a nice presentation. Quite an approachable IPA that does not disappoint.”
