What the brewers say

Spontaneously acidified and fermented, matured in oak barrels, refermented on chambourcin grape must with fresh petite sirah and cabernet franc pomace. Aged in grenache puncheons.

What our panel thought

Cherry, blackberry, and currant aroma with a hint of tannin and leather. Flavor: Juicy blackberries with hints of vanilla, leather, oak. Low initial sweetness moves into a moderate-strong acidity that fades to a dry, somewhat tannic, finish.

What our editors thought

Cherry, berry, and spicy currant notes on the nose with a rounded warmth. Sip allows the bitter and tannic quality of the fruit to push forward for an austere but fascinating experience. Pinot noir-like in its lightness of body.
