Three Taverns Brewery Ukiyo Premium Lager Beer

What the brewers say

“Japanese-inspired rice lager … jasmine green tea produces sweet floral notes.”

What our panel thought

“Defined with light grain and a bit of tartness on the finish. Starts with a very light bready malt nose and low floral hops. Floating airy body, slight mineral aftertaste, and an urgent finish. Well made, in a very light footprint. Approaches the lawnmower ideal—pleasant for the average drinker, but with enough structure to make anyone happy.”

What our editors thought

“Light nose with a small bit of yeast sulfur softness. The sip is light cracker with a touch of pepper—snappy.”

MAP Brewing Company Great Wave Sake Lager

“On the nose, sweaty peach, melon, guava, canned fruit cocktail (in a good way). Very low water-cracker malt. White pepper hop character. Pineapple and banana flavor dominates up front. Ends with a sake note mixed with pineapple and a hint of warming alcohol. Well-balanced finish.”

Three Taverns Brewery Prince of Pilsen

“Notes of pine, green onion, and a touch of dankness in the aroma emerge over the top of a clean, grainy malt nose. The cracker-like malt sweetness is balanced by a healthy dose of resinous and pine-like hoppy bitterness with floral and perfume-like hints creating a nicely complex flavor profile.”

pFriem Family Brewers Japanese Lager

“Floral, spicy hops, some fresh-cut grass, with cracker and slight grain sweetness that stops it from becoming watery. Mouthfeel has a slight carbonic bite that finishes quickly. Soapy and floral flavors with a hint of white cracker.”
