Tiny Haus by 10 Barrel Soul Candy

What the brewers say

“Conditioned on Brazilian amburana wood infused with flavors of gingerbread and holiday spices.”

What our panel thought

“Hints of earthy cinnamon-like spice punctuate a nose that brings elements of almond, baker’s chocolate, vanilla, blonde roast coffee. The sip yields an initial blast of spicy, nutty, and chocolate-like sweetness that slowly fades, allowing hints of cinnamon, almond, and allspice.”

What our editors thought

“Strong amburana wood in the nose evokes almond croissant, Amaretto liqueur, marzipan. The sip balances the sweeter nutty notes with spice and very lightly bitter chocolate.”

Great Notion Brewing Radio Silence 2022

“Dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, bourbon, a hint of booziness complement and balance vinous notes in the aroma. A silky, syrupy mouthfeel accentuates dark chocolate, bourbon, caramel sweetness, while oaky tannin grounds it.”

10 Barrel Baywindow

“Beautifully clear beer. Playful aroma of bread crusts, lemon, and Juicy Fruit gum; crisp malt with some herbal notes behind it. Ultra-clean taste profile with a tangy-yet-elegant lactic wheatiness that shines on stage; pleasant lactic acidity and some grainy flavor, with hints of citrus and dry white wine in the finish. For a Berliner, it’s gentle on the palate; very clean, with low alcohol notes. Could serve as a ‘gateway Berliner’ for someone interested in trying the style but hesitant to approach a sour beer. Eminently drinkable—I could drink a lot of this.”

Ecliptic Brewing Orange Giant Barleywine: Triple Dry-Hopped Edition

“Strong grapefruit, floral, and pine hop aroma gives way to light vanilla and cinnamon notes. Simple light caramel and biscuit malt push the hops forward. Grapefruit, pine, and a touch of garlic or diesel dominate the flavor. Nicely balanced, just a hint of sweetness.”
