What the brewers say

“Imperial stout with vanilla, Tugboat coffee, maple syrup, aged in a whiskey foeder for 1 year, then in Blis Maple Syrup barrels for 1 year.”

What our panel thought

“This is big, no hiding it. The balance is right, and the alcohol balances the sweet. Medium coffee notes on top of a low chocolate base in the aroma. Smooth creamy body with moderate sweetness and a touch of lingering vanilla. Alcohol heat is not apparent, until it is!”

What our editors thought

“Hefty bourbon barrel with nutty overtones and a bit of char/roast in the aroma, backed by a bit of orange oil and zest. Citrus tones continue through the flavor, amped up by boozy vanilla with chocolate liqueur in the finish.”
