Uinta Brewing Co. Westwater Hard Seltzer: Raspberry

What the brewers say

Each gluten-free can of Westwater is packed with natural fruit flavors and nothing artificial to dampen your spirits or weigh you down.

What our panel thought

Bright, strong, tart raspberry aroma, fruit-forward like fresh juice. Flavor is sweet raspberry, metallic notes, fading quickly to a very dry finish. Bubbly, light, with an almost tannic bite. Easy-drinking. Good clarity.

What our editors thought

Soft, floral-raspberry nose—like raspberry candy that might have been made with real juice. Softly tart, tangy berry flavor quickly goes dry on tight, lively carbonation. Finishes light, dry, and then it’s gone.

Uinta Brewing Co. 801

“High floral quality in aroma and flavor; lilac on the nose. Spicy Noble hops take a backseat to the strong bouquet. Clean, with tiny wildflower accents. A steadfast bitterness builds into a smooth crescendo. Light cracker background yields to splashes of floral-hop purples and pinks. Clean, crisp finish.”

Big Grove Brewery and Taproom Strawberry Cherry Swirl

“Nose of overripe strawberries left in the sun. Madagascar vanilla, strawberry, marshmallow flavors up front; a hit of cherry sweetness balanced by some trademark Berliner tartness, and some dry earthy character on the finish. The acid is a little too high to be sessionable.”

Central Standard Brewing Gamma Squeeze

Heady bud nose, bright, with a slight tinge of lime. Flavor is like hop juice, a fistfight between tropical fruit and bitterness; skunky, gassy, with light licorice and a slight burn. A bit muddy. Super creative, even for an inherently creative style.
