Urban Roots Brewing Drown The Sun

What the brewers say

“An imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels.”

What our panel thought

“Chocolate frosting and bittersweet baking chocolate on the nose with molasses, brown sugar, and bourbon. Deep-chocolate flavors with some burnt-sugar and tobacco and a slight bitterness that balances, although it still leans sweet. Woody tannins create more balance.”

What our editors thought

“Vivid chocolate liqueur in the aroma with charred oak, walnut, hay, and vintage barn. Fruitier in the sip with peach and berry notes, milk chocolate and caramel, and a razor-sharp ethanol note that saturates.”
