Urbanrest Brewing Company Märzenbier

What the brewers say

“Toasty bread crust, warm Vienna malt, Noble hops.”

What our panel thought

“Mild biscuit and pie-crust aroma, with soft caramel and light spicy and floral notes. Flavor of toasted bread crusts and fresh-baked bread supports a subtle floral-and-black-pepper hop flavor. Subtle bitterness. Hints of white peach and dried apricot. Finish is fairly dry, with light fruit appearing as it fades.”

What our editors thought

“Brioche crust with a light hint of sourdough and faint floral hops. Light bready sweetness in the sip quickly dries as a pronounced bitterness takes hold.”

Halfway Crooks Beer Whole Cone Fest Märzen

“Big pineapple and peach notes mixed with a hint of classic matchstick lager-sulfur on the nose. Fruit notes and malt permeate the flavor. Slight suggestion of sweetness rolls into a smooth, moderately bitter and dry-enough finish.”

Devil's Club Brewing Friends in Rural Places

“Muted aroma reminiscent of a jelly sandwich. Strong, clean sour. Cherry flavor comes through slightly and builds on the sour base. A slight licorice aftertaste.”

Flatland Brewing Company Rubberboots and Party Pants

“Light toast and biscuit aroma. Hint of caramel. Light grain husk. Low herbal and floral hops. Malt-forward pie crust, toast, and biscuit. Low caramel, brown sugar. Low herbal, floral, and spicy black-pepper notes. Firm but smooth bittering balances the hefty malt bill.”
