West Sixth Brewing Co Pennyrile Pale Ale

What the brewers say

Our pale ale has a big, fruity hop aroma with a taste that follows suit. A subtle and balanced malt character creates a canvas for the hops to shine.

What our panel thought

Fairly clear with a very robust head. Sweet biscuit-malt nose gives way to subtle but dank hops. Sweet caramel-malty flavor with firm bitterness and nice, light pine-resin hop flavor with sweet orange notes. Easy to drink.

What our editors thought

Classic nose: orange, forest, toasted bread, light caramel. The sip follows the classic theme with an almost spongy orange sweetness and forest-hop bitterness. Bitterness is a touch rough and ragged but finishes convincingly.

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

West Sixth Brewing Co West Sixth IPA

“On the nose, a blend of grapefruit and gooseberry, orange and melon, with a hint of floral hops. Oranges, lemons, and herbal (rosemary?) notes in the flavor. Finish is crisp, dry with lingering lemon. Big bitter notes.”

West Sixth Brewing Co Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter

“Bright citrus and pine notes emerge out of the roast, chocolate, and coffee malt aroma. The interplay of roasted malt, caramel sweetness, and piney hops continues into the flavor in a back-and-forth with just enough body to hold it all together without getting in the way. Transitions to a sweeter finish with chocolate waves coming through on the back end.”

MadTree Brewing Entropic Theory

Pine-tree-forest hops, orange-grapefruit punch, tropical hints, bright tomato. Flavor leans sweet; well-balanced malt accentuates juicy hops, ducking bitterness until a softly resinous, crisp, clean, dry-enough finish. Wanting the aroma to say more, but there is an addictive quality.
