Wise Man Brewing Cherish It

What the brewers say

Notes of caramel, chocolate, and a delightful roasty character. Medium-bodied, but crisp and refreshing.

What our panel thought

Chocolate, caramel, roast, and coffee-like malt aromas jump out of the glass with subtle hints of vanilla and woody hops. The flavor leans more singularly on the roast aspects and, while clean and crisp, it seems to lack enough body to hold everything together.

What our editors thought

Toasty caramel with a subtle crispness in the nose. The sip balances a touch of woody roast (very lightly applied) with very light caramel notes that flow right into the dry finish. Delicious in its simplicity and intention.

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company Black Lager

Bold, assertive nose—roasty, coffee-forward, with hints of rye, chocolate, licorice, spice, and caramel. That complexity continues into the flavor with more licorice, spicy rye, and herbal hops. Deftly avoids both heaviness of body and harsh bitterness. Intriguing.

Girdwood Brewing Company Crow Creek Gold

Soft, lemony aromatics. Nicely balanced, rounded flavor—soft lemon notes with a decent amount of hop-bitterness to balance it. Tart, lemon-meringue flavor. Well balanced fruity pilsner. Dry finish. Very light, not quite thin. Elegant interpretation. Very enjoyable.

Wise Man Brewing Wise Water Cherry

Salmon-pink color. Cherry aroma with notes of raspberry, blackberry, and a hint of cocoa. Expressive fruit flavor like thick, syrup-coated pie cherries; light vanilla and ginger notes. Cherry lingers. Low carbonation. Sweeter and more flavorful than most seltzers, but not quite as refreshing. Leans toward wine spritzer.
