Woodchuck Cidery Woodchuck Hard Cider Private Reserve Belgian White

What the brewers say

“Crafted with a classic Belgian beer yeast. Cloudy, with a rich, golden hue, it presents a delicate aroma and taste, with coriander and orange notes.”

What our panel thought

Aroma: “Candy gumball aroma with esters of bubble gum. Sweet red apple aroma is a touch weird with funky fruit like kiwi and cherry. It’s a fruit salad of various esters and even floral lavender notes. A unique mix of apples and candy.”

Flavor: “Spicy apple-juice flavors with sweet apples in the aftertaste. Very bizarre—almost sweet and sour with big pineapple, cherry, and bubble-gum esters. There is some apple in here, I think.”

Overall: “Enjoyable and fun, but some- what cartoonish from the over-the-top esters. Apples are not front and center. Anyone seeking a cider will be confused by this drink, but the flavor grows on me. Funky, estery, and unique. Belgian yeast character plays well with the apple sweetness.”
