American Solera BA Turtle Sundae

What the brewers say

“Aged in bourbon barrels with cacao nibs, caramel, milk sugar, vanilla, roasted pecans. Brewed with our friends at Angry Chair.”

What our panel thought

“First hit is Hershey’s Kisses, followed by cherry, treacle, caramel, and a nutty finish. Very sweet. The barrel wraps it all together.”

What our editors thought

“Nutty with an almost walnut bitter note in the nose, alongside very sweet caramel and vanilla saltwater taffy. Rich caramel in the sip, dripping in thickness, as the sweeter notes balance with thick chocolate notes. Feels excessively rich, yet somehow feels cohesive.”

Dry Dock Brewing Co - North Dock Bligh's Barleywine

“On the nose, subtle chocolate, vanilla, and leather support caramel and toffee notes. An earthy, citrus-like bitterness in the finish tempers the sweet, somewhat decadent, malt flavors.”

American Solera Lizard Bites

“Amazing aroma of hazelnut and vanilla with graham cracker, honey, chocolate. Layers of chocolate from pudding to dark caramel to fudge, hazelnut, vanilla. Utterly absurd mouthfeel and sweetness.”

Moksa Brewing Co Final Form: Optimization

“Plum, brown sugar, and bread crust nose with hints of oak, dark-fruit jam, and vanilla. The flavor presents a strong vinous caramel maltiness with hints of blackberries, crème brûlée, and figs.”
