American Solera Delta Blend

What the brewers say

“Imperial stout aged 12–18 months in whiskey barrels.”

What our panel thought

“Smells like chocolate-chip pancakes on the griddle. A powerhouse of flavor: chocolate, dates, bourbon, black Twizzlers, caramel. The barrel flavors are there but struggle a bit to surface. Rich, but not overly sweet. Vanilla from barrel plays nicely with chocolate.”

What our editors thought

“Aroma of deep, dark, sweet chocolate and espresso with oaky vanilla. Flavor: medium-sweet chocolate, deep rich coffee, sweet molasses. Finishes sweet, but not cloying.”

American Solera BA Turtle Sundae

“First hit is Hershey’s Kisses, followed by cherry, treacle, caramel, and a nutty finish. Very sweet. The barrel wraps it all together.”

American Solera Chameleon Bites

“Deep, rich aroma of chocolate, coffee, brown bread, vanilla, marzipan. Rich chocolate cake and brownie edges throughout. Just bitter enough.”

American Solera Lizard Bites

“Amazing aroma of hazelnut and vanilla with graham cracker, honey, chocolate. Layers of chocolate from pudding to dark caramel to fudge, hazelnut, vanilla. Utterly absurd mouthfeel and sweetness.”
