What the brewers say

"Biére de garde aged for 6 months on cherries with Brettanomyces.

What our panel thought

"Off-pink golden pour. Notes of vanilla, lightly buttery wood, low strawberry. Moderate, balanced acidity; light strawberry/raspberry flavor with light smoky note. Nice level of biscuit-malty sweetness. Light, leathery funk in a solid Brett presence, well integrated."

What our editors thought

"Curious rosé aroma and look; more like vinous fruit than cherry. The same subtlety expresses in the sip, with a Brett farmhouse note balanced by light white-wine grape and faint hit of stone fruit."

Wiley Roots Funk Yo Couch Nelson Sauvin

Gin, grapefruit pith, lemon peel, low oak, and background funk. Earthy, citrus-forward funk carries into huge tropical-fruit flavor. Harmonious. Some gentle acidity brightens the flavors. The Brett brings it all together. Digging this.

Cellar West Artisan Ales Nightingale

Fantastic tropical-hop aroma, with hop-driven orange-citrus notes fading to allow spicy phenolics to emerge—notes of wood and pepper, with light malt in the background. Crisp, balancing bitterness with lightly sweet malt and spicy-woody notes. Light acidity. Balanced fruit and spice. Effervescent.

Standard Brewing Faithful and True

Aroma is a bit subdued, but there’s some fun stuff going on: strawberry, raspberry, lemon, white wine, a touch of sweaty pineapple. Hints of caramel, tobacco, pear mid-palate. Nice carbonation, dry finish. Fairly light and simple, but pleasant and very drinkable.
