The Brew Kettle Kitka

What the brewers say

"We take a traditional milk stout and add chocolate, coconut, and vanilla."

What our panel thought

"Almond Joy nose—thick, rich chocolate, coconut, and creamy sweetness. Coconut is borderline aggressive. Flavor leans sweet but doesn’t cloy, with chocolate coconut-macaroon pastry throughout. Fun flavors here, but also sweet and thin."

What our editors thought

"Light coconut and milk chocolate on the nose is a touch thin but inviting. The sip launches with a sharp edge of carbonation, but the tame roast malt allows the flavors to push forward. Highs and high mids overpower any deeper or richer notes."

Wild Fields Brewhouse Mountain Moonlight

“Soft chocolate-malt and dark-fruit aroma with a hint of vanilla. Very low woody hops. Bright and velvety malt character with flavors of light roast coffee, caramel, vanilla, cherry. Playful berry esters add sweetness and acidity. Semisweet, silky finish.”

Boise Brewing Dark Daisy Milk Stout

“Bold roast, coffee, and dark-chocolate malt aromas accentuated by hints of pine and earthy hops. Hints of bitter chocolate, coffee, black malt, and a touch of smoke. Pleasant bitter finish complements the roast-forward body.”

The Brew Kettle White Rajah

Sweet, pleasant nose of floral, woody hops and clean caramel—orange blossom, tangy candy. Bright flavor on yin-and-yang hops-malt blend—brief sweetness, then zesty, pithy citrus mushrooming into firm bitterness. Sweetish finish, lingering spicy bitterness.
