Garage Brewing Marshmallow Milk Stout

What the brewers say

"Pure decadence with none of the gooey mess."

What our panel thought

"Big marshmallow nose with chocolate, vanilla, cream, and root-beer notes. Soft, round, creamy body with chocolate, cookies ‘n’ cream, and more marshmallow. Thinning toward the back of the palate; sweet, mouth-coating finish. Quite drinkable given the sweetness."

What our editors thought

"Gobs of marshmallow on the nose leave no room for subtlety; as it warms, a lightly spiced cream-soda note emerges. The sip is moderately sweet; the light body seems confused by what's expected from it. Finishes with a lingering toasty caramel-vanilla note."

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company Marshmallow Milk Stout

“Sweet, sticky white sugar dominates the aroma with a touch of milk chocolate supporting. Medium body balances the high sweetness of the candy-like marshmallow. Pronounced roast malt and bitter chocolate in the flavor.”

Tallgrass Brewing Company Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat

**Aroma:** “Roast aroma with a light chocolate and a low vanilla. As it warms, a lot more vanilla starts to come out with a high sweetness. The roast character comes through in the nose. Chocolate and coffee are present. Creamy vanilla notes are very strong.” **Flavor:** “Toasty and nutty malt with lots of vanilla and chocolate in the background. Moderately bitter throughout, with a moderate-to-strong sweetness in the finish. Medium body is a bit thin for the vanilla notes. A medium sweetness helps support the vanilla. There is a smoothness in this beer. Initial dry roast flavors are quickly replaced by the intense sweetness of the vanilla bean, which lingers to the end. Finishes medium-dry in terms of body, but the lingering vanilla makes it seem very sweet.” **Overall:** “A lot of great flavors elements, but the beer lacks body to support the sweetness from the vanilla in the finish. Doesn’t have the body and silkiness I would expect from an oatmeal stout. Enjoyable and sweet. The vanilla was showcased and provided sweetness but not too sweet.”

Garage Brewing Company 951 Blonde Ale

Earthy hop aroma with hints of onion, pine, and bread-like malt. The flavor has a mineral edge that brings out some grainy malt, but oxidation mutes the impact. A hint of corn-like sweetness serves to temper the bitterness. Balanced, crisp. There's little to grasp. Not much of a lasting impression.
