New Image Brewing Co Double Double Double Double

What the brewers say

“Quadruple dry-hopped double IPA with Simcoe, Mosaic, and Satus.”

What our panel thought

“Over-the-top hops run from mango to peach to resin and garlic. Boozy with some hop burn, it’s rough-and-tumble, but in the end comes together with great balance. Sweet through the finish.”

What our editors thought

“Big, but decently structured and balanced, it hits hard quickly, with a nose that mixes up dank weed and light tropical citrus notes. In the sip, the same dueling flavors compete, with tropical fruit sweetness butting up against an herbal-weedy bitterness. Intense on all fronts but balanced well.”

New Image Brewing Co Levels 2.2

“Aroma is papaya-orange-guava all the way. Sweeter than average, with just enough bitterness to pull it together. Well-balanced body. Flavor comes across similar to the nose in a fruity way: pineapples and candied tangerines.”

New Image Brewing Co Levels - Level 1

“Soft, sweaty tropical fruit aromas sing from the glass; vibrant mango, pineapple, and passion fruit, with touches of pine—complex and pleasant. Interesting flavor interplay between tropical-citrus and resinous pine, within a supportive malt body. The tug of war continues well into the finish. Elegant and enticing. Vibrant hop-salad finish.”

Crooked Stave Private Reserve Bourbon Barrel Imperial Oatmeal Stout #183

Sweet up front as deep molasses and chocolate wrap around a bourbon-filled body. Dries out fairly well at the end. It’s like being thrown into a blender full of dark chocolate, bourbon barrels, vanilla, and cinnamon.
