St. Elmo Brewing Company Deluxe - Full Stack

What the brewers say

“Aged in bourbon barrels, then dosed with maple syrup, blueberry puree, cacao nibs.”

What our panel thought

“Smells like dark chocolate with sugary vanilla notes and a distinct oak character. Flavor starts with a saccharine sweetness that fades into an intense boozy heat with hints of oak, vanilla, milk chocolate.”

What our editors thought

“Light maple and bourbon notes with some light char make for a subdued and confident nose. Sweet maple in the sip ratchets up the intensity with the bourbon to the side. Thinner with less malt than one might expect.”

WeldWerks Brewing Co. Medianoche: Vanilla Moonlight

“Strong oak dominates the aroma, with hints of vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, roast. Thick body, like Hershey’s syrup, with a flavor to match. Medium cherry and dark-fruit esters appear in the sweet, long-lasting finish. Plenty of warming in the chest.”

St. Elmo Brewing Company POW!

“Fresh-cut grass and lemon-like aromas blend and are complemented by hints of peach, strawberry, and pine. Fruity notes of peach and blackberry mix with pine and a touch of graininess in the flavor, creating a flavor complexity on par with the aroma. The mouthfeel could stand a bit more softness to round the sharp edges and tie everything together.”

Living Waters Brewing Company Euphrates

Bold aromatics of milk chocolate, caramel, and coffee in the nose are complimented by a healthy suggestion of a boozy melange of spirits. Dark chocolate coffee bean in combination with boozy raisiny oak. The sip hits first with a nice sweet chocolate note that fades into a lightly bitter roasted coffee flavor like a nice mocha. As that bittersweet flavor fades, the oaky booze notes emerge, with hints of vanilla, rum, and whiskey, and that boozy heat lingers into the finish. Very low carbonation, remains warm without being hot.
