Three Taverns Brewery Prince of Pilsen

What the brewers say

“Dry-hopped with Falconer’s Flight 7Cs for a distinct citrus aroma and bite.”

What our panel thought

“Notes of pine, green onion, and a touch of dankness in the aroma emerge over the top of a clean, grainy malt nose. The cracker-like malt sweetness is balanced by a healthy dose of resinous and pine-like hoppy bitterness with floral and perfume-like hints creating a nicely complex flavor profile.”

What our editors thought

“Strong hop character in the aroma evokes light lemon with a lavender rosemary herbal counterpoint. The flavor leads with a bold carbonic bite that fades into soft herbal bitterness.”

Three Taverns Prince of Pilsen

Aroma: “Citrus and pineapple. Rich tropical fruit–forward hops (mango and lychee) with hints of pepper. Some bread-like malt sweetness sits in the back.” Flavor: “Light fruit and candy sugar up front, though not particularly sweet on the finish. There’s a nice lingering cracker dryness. And it’s slightly chewy. Tropical-fruit hops character comes across again, but balances nicely with the underlying beer. Not much bitterness, lingering fruity, earthy hops character.” Overall: “Not your grandpappy’s Pils. Hazy IPA meets Pilsner: The hops are showcased with nice fruity notes of tropical fruit and citrus; the malt backbone is light and clean. It’s an interesting idea and fairly well executed. Tasty, refreshing, and certainly distinctive.”

Three Taverns Brewery Ukiyo Premium Lager Beer

“Defined with light grain and a bit of tartness on the finish. Starts with a very light bready malt nose and low floral hops. Floating airy body, slight mineral aftertaste, and an urgent finish. Well made, in a very light footprint. Approaches the lawnmower ideal—pleasant for the average drinker, but with enough structure to make anyone happy.”

Elevation Beer Company DIPA

“Hazy for style, with an uncommon touch of acid in the finish. Aroma is ripe stone fruit—apricots and peaches—with moderate tropical guava and mango, plus hints of papaya. Light dank sulfur. Flavor echoes nose, with overripe peach and guava, flowery orange zest, light lime note. Cotton candy–sweet finish.”
