Beachwood Blendery We Are Who We Pretend to Be

What the brewers say

"100% spontaneously fermented ale. Blend of one-, two-, and three-year-old barrels."

What our panel thought

"Intriguing nose; barnyard Brett in foreground, with bright layers of strawberry, lemon, red apple. Bright acidity layered on medium funk; fruit-forward, with light berry notes alongside lemon and lime, on a soft spritzy body."

What our editors thought

"Painless, light mineral gueuze funk on the nose—sweaty, funky tropical fruit with flashes of satisfying sweet fruit. Flavor is a touch more austere, with a very light stone-fruit-juice note and a touch of funk."

Beachwood Blendery Funk Yeah

A wonderful complementary blend of barnyard funk, assertive tartness, and acidic sourness. Aromas of leather, horse blanket, stone fruits, and oak are just as complex in flavor as they are in the nose. Flavors of grapefruit, peach, wet hay, leather, and horse blanket are all wonderfully expressed within the oak-derived tannic canvas. This beer is supremely complex and full of life with every nuanced aspect equally present and accounted for. Phenomenal!

Beachwood Blendery Funk Yeah

Light, well-rounded peach, kiwi, barnyard Brett, overly ripe pineapple. Clean lactic acidity, balanced, with restrained funk; lemony and floral; medium body allows acidity to cut through and finish medium-dry. Herbal flavor through the finish, notes of white wine.

Funk Factory Geuzeria The Last Four Winters...

Citrus and light berry esters, layered atop fresh-mown hay; inviting aromas that build anticipation. Whiffs of lemon, orange peel, vanilla, and touch of funk. Taste is more funky and tart than aroma suggests; sharp, earthy.
