Westbound & Down Brewing Company Quick Draw Pils

What the brewers say

“Light and dry pils with a mild sweetness and balanced hoppy bitterness.”

What our panel thought

“Very attractive with a velvety white head and a gentle perfume floral aroma. Noble-esque hop aroma with some underlying citrus characteristics. Hop-forward bitterness in heaps with flowery melon citrus flavor and light sweet malt underneath. Very dry, clean, gentle finish despite the healthy dose of bittering hops.”

What our editors thought

“Light toasty and dry herbal nose, with faint glimpses of citrus. Dry orange herbal notes with heftier malt notes in the sip give it a particular gravitas. Bold and refined.”

Westbound & Down Brewing Company Westbound Italian Pils

Big, bright, floral hop nose. In the flavor, more floral hops with notes of lavender, diesel, dankness, wet grass. Light, bready malt sweetness helps to balance. Dry finish, as bitterness lingers long after the sip. Fun, modern interpretation. Just restrained enough to come together.

Westbound & Down Brewing Company Western Justice + Coffee

“Dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, coffee, oak, a healthy booze note, and an odd hint of Twizzlers in the nose. Roasted coffee and alcoholic heat create a bold initial sip. A bittersweetness fades into a lightly sweet but roasty, oaky finish.”

Westbound & Down Brewing Company The Coloradan

Sweet, corny nose with some welcome lemony and floral-grassy hints. Sweet, grainy flavor, but with a good balance of bitterness. Light-bodied. Clean, crisp, drying finish. Light malt and faint bitterness linger in the aftertaste then vanish. Pretty damn elegant. Subtle, clean, endearing.
