The Future of Breweries is Digital Primary Image

In the next couple of months, as more and more people venture out to breweries, it will be crucial for businesses to adopt digital solutions to meet their customers’ expectations. One of the most important of these solutions is QR-code ordering, which has quickly become a game-changing technology in the industry. With QR-code ordering, breweries can eliminate long lines, increase check sizes, and improve the overall customer experience.

Meet Active Ingredient Brewing Company

Active Ingredient Brewing Company in Malta, New York, is a brewery founded by two former pharmacists who turned their passion for chemistry toward brewing craft beer. With a dedication to creating unique and delicious brews, they wanted to stay ahead of the competition and offer their guests a cutting-edge digital experience. Initially, they planned on switching their point-of-sale system from Clover POS to Toast POS, to adopt their version of QR-code ordering. However, after discovering that Tabski’s QR Ordering platform was fully integrated to their current system and offered additional features that excited them, such as Order Tracking, Tab Sharing, and Timed Menus, they stuck with Clover. Now they’ve successfully streamlined their ordering process and enhanced their overall guest experience.

The Set Up

The Tabski team prides itself on a seamless and efficient setup process. For Active Ingredient, custom signage was created with their colors and logo which were then placed in sturdy, plastic table tents and shipped out to New York in a timely manner. The team also shipped out the Tabski Printer Hub, which was plugged into an open port on Active’s ethernet switch, allowing Tabski orders to print seamlessly on their current order printers.

Menu syncing was also a breeze for Active Ingredient. They simply downloaded Tabski through the Clover Marketplace and clicked “Sync” within Tabski’s backend reporting. Immediately, all taxes, modifiers, categories, and items were transferred over, ensuring that the menu was up to date and accurate. The Tabski team helped upload pictures and descriptions to perfect the web-based app that pops up when consumers scan the QR code on their table.

To ensure that everything was set up correctly, Tabski scheduled a virtual meeting with the Active Ingredient team for the final call. During this call, the Tabski team ensured that the printer hub was installed correctly, the printers were connected successfully, tablets were set up to receive orders, and that the team was fully ready to go. The entire onboarding process takes around three to five days.

The Numbers

Tabski’s pricing model is designed to help breweries such as Active Ingredient increase their revenue and improve the guest experience without breaking the bank. The small startup fee (usually less than $200) is a one-time charge that covers the cost of custom-branded QR-code signage and the Tabski Printer Hub. Display screens are optional, but Tabski is hardware agnostic, meaning any tablet with internet capability can act as a Tabski Display Screen. After that, there is no monthly fee for Active Ingredient, which is a huge benefit for any small business owner. Tabski charges the consumer $0.99 per tab, an affordable fee for the convenience of being able to order and reorder beers in one click.

What’s more, Tabski’s data show that most breweries see an average increase of 25 percent in check size after implementing QR-code ordering. At Active Ingredient, the benefits have been even more impressive. With the streamlined ordering process, guests are more likely to order additional drinks, food, and even merchandise such as hoodies and glassware, leading to a significant increase in overall tab size. In addition to higher revenue, there has also been an increase in tips for the staff, who are now able to focus on providing excellent service and pouring the perfect beer for three times more tables rather than managing a long line of orders.

“Tabski has been highly beneficial for us. Customers love the ability to order beers, split tabs with friends, and have their card saved for future transactions at our facility. Our servers love it as well because they’re less bogged down by long lines and can easily deliver drinks to customers right at their tables.” - Nathan Rogers, owner

As summer approaches and more breweries are opening their patios, the Tabski QR Code ordering system is becoming more and more popular. It eliminates long lines, increases check size, and makes life easier for both guests and staff. If you’re a brewery owner on Square or Clover and looking for faster checkout times and more tips for your staff, set up a demo with the Tabski team.
