Flatland Brewing Company Coconut Caramel Anthropomorphic Metaphor

What the brewers say

“Treated with toasted coconut, caramel, vanilla, cacao nibs.”

What our panel thought

“The nose is sweet chocolate, with coconut coming through strong as it warms. The flavor is a chocolate macaroon: sweet cocoa and toasted coconut. Alcohol heat carries through a strong, dark chocolate–syrup flavor in the finish.”

What our editors thought

“Strong vanilla and coconut notes on the nose take on a vaguely extract character as a result of the booziness. The sip is candy sweet and singular in its upvoting the adjunct intensity.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House Toque

“Sweet caramel dominates the muted aroma. Ester-forward with plum and apricot. A hint of alcohol and acetyl appears as it warms. Strong malt-forward flavor—caramel, toast, and a low chocolate note. Clean alcohol grows a bit hot in the finish. Primed for aging.”

Flatland Brewing Company Anthropomorphic Metaphor

“Black with some brown lacing around the edges, reminiscent of a stout. Dark fruits, green apple on the nose. Some roasted, toasty, coffee notes show the stout component. There’s a barrel side as well, with some sharp, sweet bourbon flavors. Rich, sweet finish. Lots of caramel.”

Browar Pinta Insights

“Dried-bread and peach aroma with moderate toffee and lightly floral hops. An earthy and lightly smoky element in the aroma seems a bit out of place. Golden raisins in the flavor lead to big toasty notes and a slight tartness. Rough-hewn.”
