What the brewers say

Our first ever blend of turbid-mashed one-, two-, and three-year old spontaneously fermented lambic-inspired ales designed in the spirit of Belgian gueuze. The layered flavors of funky fruit, cheesy hops, gentle oak, a bright citrus acid profile, and a pleasant natural carbonation give this beer unrivaled complexity for its strength.

What our panel thought

Nose of stone fruit, mango, and guava, with leather, earth, and barnyard. Funk-forward flavor with peach, lemongrass, hay, and a slightly bitter leathery note carrying into the finish. Smooth acidity draws citrus and tropical fruit across the palate; a touch of sweetness helps to balance it. Nice complexity. Lovely nose provides insight into what's coming. Very nice beer.

What our editors thought

Deep woody cellar on the nose, like a limestone cave—humid, with blue-cheese funk wafting. The sip tempers the cheesy funk with malty caramel, as light bitterness lingers over the sweet funk—dry and succinct. Remarkable.

Beachwood Blendery Funk Yeah

A wonderful complementary blend of barnyard funk, assertive tartness, and acidic sourness. Aromas of leather, horse blanket, stone fruits, and oak are just as complex in flavor as they are in the nose. Flavors of grapefruit, peach, wet hay, leather, and horse blanket are all wonderfully expressed within the oak-derived tannic canvas. This beer is supremely complex and full of life with every nuanced aspect equally present and accounted for. Phenomenal!

Beachwood Blendery Coolship Chaos

Lemon and white grape up front with a bit of wet-hay funk coming in behind it. More barnyard funk comes through in the flavor with a bit of wet stone. Very well-balanced between the fruit character and the funk. Acidity is high up front but not harsh or overwhelming. It fades into a somewhat soft and dry finish. Complex in a nuanced way.

The Veil Brewing Co. Covered in Nothing

Vinous nose with buttery, woody richness; hints of ripe banana, plum, dark cherry. Red wine, oak, Concord grape, pear. Big barrel character throws it out of balance. On the weirder side of wild.
